Polycom vvx4xx
This article applies to the Polycom vvx4xx line devices including Polycom vvx400, Polycom vvx410, Polycom vvx411
Step 1 – Connect / Power-On Device
- Connect Provided Network Cable to port on the bottom of device labeled “LAN”
- Connect the Power cord to port on the bottom of the device
- Connected Cables should look like the image below:
Step 2 – Obtain IP Address for Self-Management
- With the power cord connected, the Device will boot/power up. After initializing, you should see info displayed on the LCD screen. Confirm device is powered on before continuing to next step.
- Press the Home key.
- Using the navigation arrow choose “Settings” option in the LCD screen
- Press 4 for Status
- Press 2 for Network
- Press 1 for TCP/IP Parameters
- Note the value of "IPv4 Addr": _________________
i.e. 192.168.1.201 (one-nine-two-dot-one-six-eight-dot-one-dot-two-zero-one)
Step 3 – Configure Device through Web Browser
- From your computer open a web browser to the IP Address noted above.
* Make sure to use “s” in https://IP_Address from above.
* If you do not use HTTPS, it will not load the page
* If you observe the security warning below, click to Proceed. - You should now see the login screen
- Login as “Admin with the default password of 456
If this password is not accepted, and your device was previously set up with another provider, you will need to perform a Factory Reset. Without the admin passcode, you cannot configure your device with UniTel Voice Services. - Navigate to menu Settings and then Provisioning Server
- Update Server Type to HTTPS
- In the top navigation, navigate to Settings -> Provisioning Server
- Update Server Type to HTTPS
- Server Address: http://208.89.105.252
- Update field “Server User” removing anything populated in field
- Update field “Server Password” removing anything populated in field
- At bottom of the screen click Save
- If prompted to save configuration changes click Yes
- Your device will restart 1 or more times during the Auto-Provisioning Process. During this time the lights on your device will go blank/blink. When the device is ready, the Line1 indicator light should be solid Green and your Extension number will display on the LCD next to the Line 1 button
Step 4 – Obtain Device MAC
- Press the Menu button on the right-side of the phone.
- Press 2 for Status
- Press 2 for Network
- Press 2 for Ethernet
- Note the value of “MAC”: _____________________
i.e. 00:04:F4:1C:3A:2C - (provide this information to UniTel Voice Support Team to authorize your device on your account)
Step 5 – Obtain Device Serial Number (SN)
- Press Menu button on right-side of phone.
- Press 2 for Status
- Press 1 for Platform
- Press 1 for Phone
- Note the value of “S/N”: _____________________

Step 6 – Place a test call.
- Place a test call to an “Off-Network” number to confirm calls completes successfully.
- Place a test call to an “On-Network” number such as another Employees Extension.
