Setup #4: How To Simply Forward Calls Straight To Voicemail

While we generally recommend using the Auto Attendant Setup for a professional customer experience, sometimes users just need to forward their Unitel Voice phone number directly to voicemail. That’s easy to do! 

In this guide, we’ll show you how to configure your phone system to forward calls directly to voicemail.

This Simple Call Forwarding Setup has 3 steps:

  1. Forward Your Unitel Voice Number to Department Extension 0
  2. Set Department Extension 0 to Voicemail Only
  3. Change Your Music On-Hold to “Ringtone”

Step 1: Forward Your Unitel Voice Number to Department Extension 0

1. Go to Settings > Your Numbers.

2. Find your number and click Edit.

3. Under Forwarding Options, select Transfer to Extension.

4. Choose Extension 0 and click Save.

Step 2: Set Department Extension 0 to Voicemail Only

1. Navigate to Extensions and click Edit on Department Extension 0.

2. In the General Information section, find the Forward Calls toggle and set it to OFF.

3. Scroll down to Voicemail Forwarding and enter the email address where you'd like voicemails to be sent.

4. Under Voicemail Greeting, click Add your own greeting and select Record by computer. This will open the recording tool. Once you’re happy with your greeting, click Save and ensure it’s selected.

5. Scroll up and click Save to apply the settings.


Step 3: Change Your Music On-Hold to “Ringtone”

1. Go to Settings > Music On-Hold.

2. From the drop-down menu, select Ringtone and click Save.
